After 38 years as a Professor and Head of the Hindi Department at Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Maharashtra, Prof. (Dr.) Arjun Chavan continues his literary work as an independent scholar and author. Prof. Dr. Arjun Chavan has published more than 65 books covering Hindi literature, literary criticism and translation. His research output includes 150+ research papers, while his academic guidance has extended to 26 Ph.D. scholars and 34 M.Phil. scholars.
Research methodology and literary criticism have remained important parts of his academic work. His areas of interest also include comparative literature, literary translation and Hindi poetry, particularly the ghazal. In a landmark literary feat set to create a national record in India, Prof. Chavan’s monumental work on 22 ghazal volumes comprising 105 ghazals in each volume is nearing completion.

Currently, Prof. Dr. Arjun Chavan serves as the President of Vishwa Hindi Parishad of Maharashtra state, leading key initiatives to promote Hindi literature, linguistic preservation, and cultural exchange across the state.
