Dubai Customs Measures Inject Dhs79 Million into Private Sector, Support Dhs33.9 Billion in Trade

Dubai Customs has announced that a series of economic support measures introduced earlier this year has provided more than Dhs79 million in liquidity to private-sector businesses while helping facilitate trade worth Dhs33.9 billion, underscoring the emirate’s efforts to maintain business continuity and strengthen supply chains amid regional developments.

The customs facilitation initiatives, introduced under economic support packages approved by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, were implemented to reinforce economic resilience and support businesses navigating changing regional conditions.

According to Dubai Customs, the measures remained in effect between March 1 and June 30, 2026, benefiting thousands of companies while reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global trade and logistics hub aligned with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).

More Than Dhs79 Million in Liquidity for Businesses

Dubai Customs said the package helped release more than Dhs79 million in liquidity to 428 companies by easing financial and operational pressures.

Among the key measures introduced were:

  • Extension of deadlines for suspended customs duty cases.
  • Instalment payment options for customs duties.
  • An 80% reduction in certain financial penalties.
  • Longer transit periods for cargo.
  • Faster customs processing for essential goods.

Officials said these initiatives enabled businesses to improve cash flow while maintaining day-to-day operations during a period of regional uncertainty.

Trade Worth Dhs33.9 Billion Moved Through Green Corridor

One of the centrepieces of the support package was the launch of Dubai Customs’ Green Corridor, created to maintain trade flows through alternative logistics routes as geopolitical developments affected regional supply chains.

Between March 1 and June 30, the Green Corridor facilitated:

  • 203,242 containers
  • More than 3.16 million tonnes of cargo
  • Trade valued at over Dhs33.9 billion
  • Goods originating from 188 countries

Dubai Customs said the initiative helped ensure uninterrupted movement of essential goods while preserving supply-chain efficiency.

Food and Machinery Among Top Imports

Food products accounted for the largest category of goods moving through the Green Corridor, with shipments valued at more than Dhs5.3 billion.

Other major categories included:

  • Machinery and electrical equipment: Dhs4.24 billion
  • Vehicles: Dhs2.21 billion
  • Plastics: Dhs1.5 billion
  • Iron and steel products: More than Dhs1 billion

The remaining trade, worth over Dhs19.6 billion, reflected the diversity of Dubai’s import and re-export economy.

Dubai Customs also processed medicines and pharmaceutical products valued at approximately Dhs446.6 million, highlighting continued priority treatment for healthcare-related shipments.

More Than 6,600 Companies Benefit from Extended Customs Deadlines

Officials said 6,613 companies benefited from a 120-day extension covering customs declarations for import-for-re-export, temporary admission and transit operations.

The extension was designed to provide businesses with greater flexibility in managing customs obligations while supporting cash flow and reducing operational pressure.

Dubai Customs noted that the measure could be extended further through future customs notices, subject to applicable regulations.

More Than 4,000 New Customers

Dubai Customs said the facilitation measures also strengthened investor confidence.

Between March and June, the authority attracted more than 4,000 new customers, a development it attributed to Dubai’s business-friendly customs environment and proactive trade policies.

Officials said continued investment in digital customs services and streamlined procedures has contributed to the emirate’s competitiveness as an international logistics hub.

Digital Customs Services Improve Efficiency

Dubai Customs highlighted ongoing investments in digital infrastructure, including its Shahin platform, which uses smart electronic seals and advanced cargo tracking technology to improve shipment visibility and accelerate customs clearance.

The authority reported maintaining an instant customs clearance rate of 93%, helping reduce processing times for importers and exporters.

Industry Feedback Shapes Future Reforms

Dubai Customs said it has also strengthened collaboration with the private sector by engaging businesses to identify operational challenges.

Officials said more than 83 proposals and challenges relating to customs clearance, shipping costs and logistics services were reviewed during the reporting period, with several translated into operational improvements designed to simplify procedures and increase trade flexibility.

Supporting Dubai’s Long-Term Economic Vision

Senior officials said the economic packages reflect Dubai’s broader strategy of responding quickly to global developments while supporting businesses through practical policy measures.

The initiatives form part of the emirate’s wider ambition under the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) to strengthen competitiveness, attract investment and reinforce Dubai’s position as one of the world’s leading centres for trade, logistics and international commerce.

As global supply chains continue to adapt to geopolitical and economic changes, Dubai Customs said it will continue enhancing customs services, digital platforms and trade facilitation measures aimed at supporting businesses and maintaining the smooth movement of goods across international markets.
