A 27-year-old Indian expatriate from Kerala has died following a gas cylinder explosion at a car showroom in Dubai, leaving colleagues and family members devastated. The victim, who had moved to the UAE just eight months ago, was working as a multimedia marketing specialist when the incident occurred.
Explosion Claims Young Life in Dubai
The fatal explosion took place on Monday at a Dubai car showroom after a fire reportedly broke out inside the building. According to the Dubai Civil Defence, emergency teams responded swiftly, bringing the blaze under control within an hour and providing assistance to those affected.
The Consulate General of India (CGI) in Dubai later confirmed the victim’s identity as a Kerala native.
Survivor Recalls the Horrific Moments
A colleague who survived the blast described the tragedy as something he is still struggling to comprehend.
“I can’t even believe it. I was right next to him when we heard the commotion. We both exited the building. He was just ahead of me when suddenly there was a massive blast. It doesn’t make sense that he died and I didn’t.”
The survivor explained that employees were carrying out their routine work on the first floor when they noticed signs of a fire spreading on the lower level.
“We didn’t panic initially,” he said. “Everyone, including our boss, started moving out of the building. Just as we were stepping outside, the gas cylinder exploded. I remember the deafening sound, and after that, everything became a blur.”
Emergency services were contacted immediately following the explosion.
Firefighters and Staff Responded Before Blast
The survivor, who had joined the company only three months earlier, said he later learned that some employees and people from nearby offices had attempted to control the fire using extinguishers before the gas cylinder exploded.
Several of those individuals reportedly sustained injuries in the blast.
The company has not issued an official statement, with management currently focused on assisting the victims and their families.
Newly Married Victim Had Recently Moved to UAE
The deceased had been married for less than a year and had relocated to Dubai only eight months ago in search of better career opportunities. He was employed as a multimedia marketing specialist at the showroom.
His sudden death has left both colleagues and loved ones in shock.
Family Awaits Repatriation of the Body
A relative revealed that he had planned to meet the victim on Monday evening but instead received a heartbreaking phone call informing him that his family member had been injured.
“By the time I reached the hospital, he had already passed away. I still cannot believe it,” the relative said.
The victim’s wife has been informed of the tragedy and is being supported by family members during this difficult time.
The family is currently awaiting the completion of official documentation and legal formalities before the body can be repatriated to India for the final rites.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the exact cause of the fire or the gas cylinder explosion. Investigations are expected to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal incident.
