The UAE has successfully thwarted a series of sophisticated and coordinated cyberattacks aimed at critical sectors including aviation, energy and education, according to the UAE Government’s Cybersecurity Council.
The attacks involved several methods designed to gain access to digital systems and sensitive infrastructure. Authorities said the campaigns included attempts to compromise user accounts, access operational data and deploy targeted phishing attacks.
Cybersecurity teams also identified efforts to exploit individual users as potential entry points into targeted networks and environments.
UAE cybersecurity teams contain attacks
The country’s national cybersecurity monitoring and response system was operating at its highest level of readiness when the attacks were detected, the council said.
Authorities moved quickly to contain the attempted intrusions while simultaneously putting additional protective measures in place. According to the council, the response prevented the attackers from reaching their intended targets and helped maintain the continuity of essential services.
National cybersecurity teams tracked the attack routes and identified associated indicators of compromise. Technical measures were then taken to neutralise the threats and prevent them from spreading to other systems.
Critical infrastructure remains a key target
The attempted attacks highlight the growing cybersecurity risks facing sectors that play a central role in the UAE’s economy and public services.
Aviation, energy and education increasingly depend on interconnected digital infrastructure, making the protection of operational systems, data and user accounts a key priority for national cybersecurity authorities.
The Cybersecurity Council said the attacks were dealt with proactively and immediately, with intrusion attempts contained before they could achieve their objectives or disrupt vital systems and services.
The latest incident also underscores the importance of strong cybersecurity practices as organisations face increasingly complex and coordinated digital threats.
The UAE has continued to strengthen its national cybersecurity capabilities as part of efforts to protect critical infrastructure, government systems and essential services from evolving cyber threats.
