Dubai’s Museum of the Future to Close in September for Exhibition Renewal

Dubai: Visitors planning a trip to the Museum of the Future have only a few weeks left before the attraction temporarily closes for an extensive programme of exhibition redevelopment.

The museum will welcome its final visitors in mid-September before work begins on replacing its existing galleries. Management expects the venue to reopen during the first quarter of 2027.

The closure marks the first major refresh since the museum opened in February 2022.

Unlike institutions that display permanent collections, the Museum of the Future regularly updates its exhibitions to reflect new developments in science, engineering and technology. The current galleries will make way for experiences that explore the next phase of innovation.

Officials have not revealed the subjects of the upcoming exhibitions. They have, however, confirmed that ideas gathered through a public outreach campaign will help shape part of the new visitor experience.

The reopening is expected to coincide with the museum’s fifth year of operation.

Since opening, the landmark has become one of Dubai’s busiest cultural attractions. Its exhibitions have explored subjects ranging from artificial intelligence and space exploration to healthcare, sustainability and climate research.

The building itself has become a defining feature of Dubai’s skyline, attracting visitors from around the world and regularly appearing in travel guides and international media.

The temporary closure also comes as Dubai continues to invest in projects linked to innovation, research and advanced technology. The museum has hosted global conferences, industry events and educational programmes alongside its public exhibitions.

An exact reopening date has not been announced. The museum has indicated that visitors can expect a redesigned experience when the doors open again in 2027.
